Gastein thermal water
Gastein thermal water is 19 thermal springs which have their source above the Gastein waterfall in Bad Gastein. These thermal springs are radioactive sodium sulphate springs. The healing power of hot springs lies in the radiation effects of radioactive substances, the chemical action of the substances contained in the sources and the influence of prevailing climatic healing aspects. The Gasteiner thermal water is used, above all, for rheumatic diseases, circulatory disorders, age-related diseases and nervous disorders.
In 1831 a pipe line was put into operation which channelled the thermal water to Bad Hofgastein. Bad Hofgastein receives one million litres per day from the Elisabeth Spring that is slightly mineralised and enriched with natural radon.
